Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans
What is this?
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 requires all construction work that will:
- either last more than 30 days, or
- will involve more than 500 man-days' work
have a suitable and sufficient Construction Phase Plan (CPP) in place before work starts on site.
How is it important?
As Principal Contractor, it is your responsibility to produce a suitable CPP that explains how you will manage health and safety during the construction phase. Clearly this will be different for each project, depending on the actual activities and site-specific risks. It is the CDM Co-ordinator’s role to ensure that the Plan is in place and to advise the Client on its adequacy.
What do we offer?
We can either produce a Construction Phase Plan for your project, or, if you opt for one of our Construction Support packages, provide you with the template for a Plan as part of your Policy Documentation.
Environmental Plans
What is this?
Any organisation registered under ISO 14001 needs to demonstrate that they are managing their impact on the environment, and to provide proof that they have planned any operations that are associated with the environment.
How is it important?
Even if you are not registered yet, your client may want an environmental plan or risk assessment of your proposed work. You both may want the assurance that there will be no environmental surprises to delay your project. Additionally, environmental issues are very often the cause of significant delays to construction projects. For this reason, planning the work around environmental constraints such as wildlife or contamination can be instrumental to achieving a successful outcome.
What do we offer?
Our experience of managing construction work and its environmental impacts ensures we support you with practical solutions that allow you to get on and do what you get paid for.
Site Waste Management Plans (SWMPs)
What is this?
All employers are required to assess the risks of putting their employees to work. The legal details of this general requirement are found in the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, which also cover the duty to assess risks to new and expectant mothers or young persons at work.
How is it important?
The law requires the assessment to be suitable and sufficient in order for the duty holder to put in place the necessary measures to comply with the relevant statutory duties.
What do we offer?
EnviroSafety Solutions can assess these risks for you or train your people to identify the risks for themselves. Either way we can help reduce your risk exposure.
Fire Risk Assessment
What is this?
Fire Risk Assessment is required under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which replaces most fire safety legislation with one order.
How is it important?
Any person who has some level of control in non-domestic premises must take reasonable steps to reduce risk from fire and make sure people can safely escape if there is a fire.
What do we offer?
EnviroSafety Solutions offer comprehensive guidance and training in Fire Risk Assessment, as well as providing full audits to help you achieve safety accreditation.
COSHH Assessment
What is this?
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations Act of 2002 imposes responsibilities on employers to assess the risks to health created by work with potentially hazardous substances.
How is it important?
COSHH assessments are more than the Material Safety Data Sheet. COSHH assessments will be different for each use you put a substance to, each different method of handling or each different form the substance takes. Each situation is likely to present different risks and needs to be assessed accordingly.
What do we offer?
We review and update your existing COSHH assessments or carry out new COSHH assessments for the substances you use and in the way you use them. All we need is a sufficient understanding of the processes you employ and a current copy of the material safety data sheet from your supplier of the substance.
Risk Assessment of DSE Work
What is this?
All employers are legally required to carry out a 'suitable and sufficient' risk assessment of workstations on which they employ people to work
How is it important?
The aim is to identify the hazards and evaluate the risks to the user and subsequently reduce any risks to the lowest extent reasonably practicable.
What do we offer?
We either come to your premises and carry out assessments of all your workstations to ensure associated risks are minimised or we can train your key individuals in how to carry out the risk assessments themselves. The training option is usually the most cost –effective.
